Stonewind
Institute is pleased to announce that Sifu
Anthony Korahais, senior American Sifu in the Shaolin
Wahnam Lineage of Grandmaster
Wong Kiew Kit of
Malaysia, will be returning to Stonewood
in the Spring to teach additional courses in Cosmos Qigong. Dates and composition
of the classes will be announded soon.
We are extremely privileged that Sifu
Anthony, with years of advanced training in Qigong, Tai Chi, and Kung Fu,
is willing to come to StoneWind to teach. Sifu Anthony, like Grandmaster
Wong, is dedicated to passing the ancient knowledge of the Shaolin healing
arts to all who want them and need them.
Cosmos Qigong, a specific style of Qigong (also spelled
"Chi Kung") taught in the Shaolin
Wah nam
Lineage of Sifu
Wong Kiew Kit,
descends through time from the famous Shaolin Monastery in China, and is
a rare and ancient Chinese healing art. The techniques were a closely guarded
secret for centuries, the form being virtually unknown in the West until
the last twenty-five years. The gentle exercises are easy to learn
and remember, pleasurable to do, with simple physical movements and gentle
breathing techniques that create a relaxed, meditative state of mind. Athleticism
is absolutely not required, but tangible results, such as increased energy,
improved concentration, and better sleep, are often noticeable within weeks.
Best of all, Cosmos Qigong requires only 10-15 minutes of daily practice
to achieve exceptional results.
Those who studied
Qigong with Sifu Anthony in 2009 and 2011 will be eligible to take all
of the Qigong classes offered. Returning students will be pleased
to know Sifu Anthony will teach each of the classes as both an in-depth review
and an extension of their initial training. Those who have yet to begin their
Qigong journey will find themselves extraordinarily fortunate
to begin their training with one of the most articulate and knowledgeable
Sifu's in America, and in one of the most respected Shaolin lineages in the
world. If you are just beginning your training with Sifu Anthony, the
Saturday morning class, "Generating Chi Flow," must be taken
as pre-requisite to the other more advanced courses offered over
the weekend. All classes work with chi flow and draw from hundreds
of possible exercises for general health as well as those chosen for
their value in specific healing goals.
Training in Cosmos Qigong might be right for you if…
- You are suffering from the effects of stress, including
heart trouble, high blood pressure, depression,
anxiety, or sleeplessness.
- You are suffering from diabetes, celiac disease,
IBS, Crohn's disease,
fibromyalgia,
chronic pain, or other medical
conditions
that
have
been shown to respond to a faithful
Qigong practice.
- You are looking for a simple yet effective daily exercise
routine that builds
energy awareness, maintains health,
and reduces the effects of stress.
- You are healthy and want to stay that way.
- You are a healing practitioner and wish to broaden
your energetic knowledge and skill.
Courses Taught in 2011:
Cosmos Qigong "Generating Chi Flow"
(required for beginners)*
This course is designed as an introduction to a Cosmos Qigong practice
intended for beginners as well as those who are already advanced in
their Qigong practice. By the end of the class, beginners will be
able to generate energy flow in their bodies (known as "Flowing
Breeze, Swaying Willows") and will have a firm foundation for
a personal Qigong practice. Those who already practice Cosmos Qigong,
will find the course helpful for refining and improving their form
and technique, for experiencing higher levels of Flowing
Breeze, Swaying Willows, and in learning new exercises. All
students will be amazed they can achieve such powerful results with
so little effort.
Qigong for a Healthy Heart
Chinese medicine, like Western medicine,
believes that the Heart is responsible for the circulation of Blood and
the health of the blood vessels. If the Heart is strong, circulation
will be good, all of the body's tissues will be well nourished, and the
pulse will be full and regular. But Chinese
medicine also believes that the Heart “houses the mind" and as
such, the health of the Heart energy has a lot to do with our
mental activity – even
consciousness. The Heart governs our ability to sleep soundly, think
clearly and have a good memory. A healthy Heart plays a big role
in our emotional health and our ability to have meaningful relationships.
When the Heart energy is weak and Blood is deficient, we may suffer
from anxiety, insomnia, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate,
and in extreme cases manic behavior or coma. All of these issues
-- heart disease, depression, and anxiety -- are related to energy blockages
in the Heart Meridian. The QIgong techniques taught in this couse are
intended to promote overall heart health, and in so
doing provide relief for stress, depression, and anxiety.
The exercises in this seminar will immediately begin to restore
the natural flow of energy through the heart.
Qigong for Digestive Health
According to Qigong philosophy, the internal organs are split into
3 levels, or "burners". The Upper Burner is responsible for taking in energy
from the cosmos (via food and air), the Middle Burner is responsible for transforming
that into energy (i.e. through digestion), and the Lower Burner is responsible
for excreting toxins (urine, feces). Thus all digestive disorders (including
Diabetes, Celiac Disease, IBS, Diverticulosis, Acid Reflux, Metabolic Syndrome,
Crohn's Disease, food allergies, etc.) are caused by blockages in the
organs in the Middle Burner. This
seminar will focus on techniques that both open and nourish the Middle
Burner to relieve symptoms, eventually to heal digestive diseases.
Those who do not suffer from manifested illness in the digestive region
will find the exercises taught here extremely valuable for strengthening
the internal organs related to digestion and nutritional balance, thus
maintaining over all health as well as digestive health.
Sinew Metamorphosis Qigong
(Transformation Qigong)
In ancient China the deepest levels of the
physical body were referred to symbolically as "sinews and bones.
For centuries, Shaolin Monks used the advanced techniques known
as "Sinew Metamorphosis" to work on the deepest level of
their bodies, for health, for strength, and to help them achieve
their full human potential. Although
the techniques of Sinew Metamorphosis were originally meant for spiritual
cultivation, they happen to be very useful for clearing energy blockages
that are lodged deeper in the body. The techniques
drive the energy deep into the body, to the "sinews and bones" for
advanced levels of healing, clearing, and transformation.
In this seminar, Sifu Anthony will teach the essence of Sinew Metamorphosis Qigong,
some of the oldest and most powerful techniques in Cosmos Qigong.
