Of Interest: A Comparison of Reiki and Johrei

Johrei is a powerful healing energy system founded in Japan in 1935 by Mokichi Okada, known to Johrei practitioners as Meishusama (Enlightened One.) It is believed the energies of Johrei come from the Bodhisattva Kannon, who is the Japanese representation of Quan Yin.

Johrei, which means "Purification of the Spirit," is a powerful "fire" energy beamed into the aura of a seated recipient through the agency of a Focal Point, with the goal of burning away "spiritual clouds" or energetic blockages. As a healing energy, Johrei addresses spiritual and energetic issues in the aura which in turn influences physical health.

Johrei healing is taught within the context of the Johrei Fellowship, an organization based on Japanese spiritual beliefs as represented in the teachings of Meishusama, the man who originated Johrei healing methods. Although Johrei training is not overly challenging to other systems of belief, and it is not necessary to follow the Johrei spiritual teachings to use Johrei, people need to know that a spiritual paradigm is part of Johrei training. Johrei practitioners share a wide diversity of cultural backgrounds and religions and find that using Johrei energy does not interfere with whatever traditional religion they follow. The Johrei belief that the origins of illness can be found in mental, emotional, and spiritual issues will be totally familiar to anyone with knowledge of holistic medicine. Those involved in Earth Healing also recognize its application as a potent transmuting energy for a wide range of toxic conditions on the planet.

Those of us in NW Arkansas and the four state area are fortunate to have Johrei come to us in a weekend intensive, since training is ordinarily stretched out over several weeks and must be undertaken either at the Johrei Center in Tucson, in Boston, or one of several in California. Training is open to anyone with a desire to use energies to heal, although the Johrei Fellowship does require that those wishing to learn Johrei have several Johrei treatments prior to receiving training so they are familiar with the energy they are about to study. Since there is no official Johrei Center in Arkansas, StoneWind Institute will arrange times with local Johrei Practitioners both in Fayetteville and at the Institute in Chester so people can receive Johrei treatments prior to training as well as ask questions about the practice of Johrei.

Members of the Johrei Fellowship are noted for their successful work with bomb victims at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Johrei has been used in Japan, the United States, Brazil, and Thailand with against cancer, tumors, burns, injuries, infections, and toxic poisoning in humans and animals.
